Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium Students at Claydon High School
It is our intention at Claydon High School that all students achieve the very best they are capable of.
We know that sometimes life is tough and some of our students need a little extra support.
We utilise our pupil premium funding to support students to undertake a wide range of activities and be in receipt of some additional learning support.
We have a very clear vision and ethos for our school and have a clear strategic direction which enables us to get the best from our funding.
The process we go through to overcome the barriers and narrow the educational gap is as follows:
- Identify barriers to learning for vulnerable students
- Ensure we are very clear regarding our desired outcomes
- Identify success criteria
- Select strategies to bring about improvement
- Implement strategies with relevant training
- Evaluate strategies
Following DfE guidelines:
“Schools, headteachers and teachers will decide how to use the Pupil Premium allocation, as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for individual pupils.
It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility”.
We feel it is essential to support students by offering a range of support and interventions. We know that no single intervention or support strategy can provide the answer to making good progress and it is the combination of support and intervention that is most likely to have an impact with our students.
The support offered is aimed at motivating, building confidence and helping students to be resilient in overcoming barriers that they may face so that they leave our school having made good progress with options available to them for their next steps.
We know that gaps still exist between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students and it is our aim to eradicate these gaps as quickly as possible.
The named governor for pupil premium students is Mr Nigel Andrews
