‘Be the best you can be’

An opportunity has arisen to join Claydon High School as a general Learning Support Assistant, working within a strong and supportive team in a popular and successful school.  The post will involve working with students and staff to support learning and in particular promoting literacy and numeracy across the curriculum.  This may include:  in-class support, 1:1 tuition or working with small groups extracted from lessons.  Our whole school focus is supporting students to be the best they can be.

We are looking for confident, committed and flexible individuals with good communication skills.  Ideally the successful candidate will have some experience of working with young people aged 11‑16.  In return we will offer you the opportunity to learn, grow and advance your career if you so wish.  Our Learning Support Assistants are given the time and backing to specialise in an area of interest.  We will support you to gain the best training available, knowing this will lead to career development if desired.  Our aim is to recruit and support the best to ensure our students have access to ground breaking support.  A number of our team have left to pursue opportunities in mental health, pastoral care and teacher training.

Claydon High School is a popular, oversubscribed and friendly comprehensive school on the outskirts of Ipswich; we are situated close to the A14 with easy transport links across Suffolk and into Essex.  We are a small school with 773 students on roll which means that there is a close working relationship with all the staff and students in the school.  As part of the Penrose Learning Trust we also work closely with other schools within the MAT to achieve “excellence through collaboration”.

If you would like to have a chat about the post or visit the school please contact Richard Pope - SENDCo, at the school on 01473 836 110.
